What is Domain Name ? – A Little Analogy
Domain name is the address of your website that people type in the browser’s URL bar to visit your website. In other words, if your website was a house, then your domain name will be its address. (From wpbeginner.com)

Interesting Facts & Things to Remember When Selecting Domain Name
There are currently over 365 million registered domain names. The number is increasing exponentially.
Domain names are managed and regulated by ICANN.
ICANN is an international body providing licenses to companies, called Registrars.
The top domain registrar in the world is GoDaddy with over 55 million registered domain names.
LasVegas.com is the most expensive domain name of all time. It costs $90,000,000.
Keep your domain name short to make it more memorable and easier to write.
Avoid using hyphens and numbers in domain names to make them more SEO-friendly.
Always make sure you’re not registering a domain name that’s been trademarked by someone else. You’ll run into copyright and trademark issues.
Domain names usually cost from $10 to $50 a year. The usual price tag is around $15.
Simple Rules for Choosing Name:
If you’re making a website for a business, your domain name should match your company name. For example: YourCompanyName.com
If you’re planning to set up a personal website for yourself then YourName.com can be a great option.
Use a “generic” domain name extension such as .com, .net or .org if your goal is international visitors.
