Join me for a step by step tutorial on how to sew a medical face mask with filter pocket. There is a huge shortage of face masks for the medical community and these diy face masks could really help. This face mask design is made of soft cotton fabric and stretchy nylon ear pieces for comfort. This reusable face mask has a filter pocket for if you would like to add a mask filter. This diy face mask tutorial is very easy and beginner friendly!

UPDATE 4/4 I am being told that HEPA filters contain fiber glass and you shouldn’t put them in masks. Do your own research on that.

These won’t prevent you from contracting a virus. N95 masks should be used whenever possible. But these say they will filter small particles. If you are making them for personal use, I think these filters would be great, but if you are making them for hospitals, check with them before you put any filters in the pockets!

*notes:
1)The pocket hole can be made larger to fit a regular surgical mask inside.
2) Once you have your mask nylon or elastic sewed on, you can use fabric glue to put a metal bread tie in the top of the mask for a moldable fit around the nose
