Hiding your WordPress login page can help protect against bots and hackers by making it more difficult to guess your login credentials. Today, I’ll show you how to hide the login page with a custom URL.

For this tutorial, I’m showing you how to use WPS Hide Login. It’s a free, and very easy to use, plugin that you can install right now.

By hiding the WordPress login page, you essentially remove the default that bots and hackers know in order to prevent brute force attacks. This is when bots will constantly try to guess your login credentials repeatedly over a period of time.

If they don’t know the login URL for WordPress, the bot can’t attack it. And since bots and hackers are usually looking for the easiest target, they’ll move on from your website.

WPS Hide Login creates a duplicate of the login page while setting up a 404 redirect for the original. When someone tries to access that default page, they are redirected to a “file not found” screen.

In this video, I’ll also show you what to do if you forget your custom login URL for WordPress. If you have cPanel, it’s a simple process of just deleting the plugin.
